Living out our Baptismal Promises

Living out our Baptismal Promises...  Beloved in Christ, Today, as we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of Jesus, the readings provided by the church from Isaiah 55:1-1,  1 John 5:1-9, and the Gospel of Mark 1:7-11, invite us to contemplate the profound significance of baptism in our lives and in our faith journey. Isaiah beckons us with these words: "Come to the water all you who are thirsty." This invitation is not merely about physical thirst, but it speaks to the deeper longing within our hearts. We all thirst for meaning, for love, for fulfillment, for eternal life – and it is in God through Christ that we find the living water that quenches our soul's deepest desires. The living water which is God’s Spirit is freely given to us, a precious gift from God. It is through this Spirit that God’s love is generously poured into our hearts, a love that regenerates and purifies us. Without this living water, we cannot truly love God or keep His commandments. New Year: Valuable Lessons from the Holy Family! As we gather to celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family and usher in the New Year, we reflect upon the profound significance of family in the Christian faith. Christmas, a time of joy and reflection, reminds us that Jesus was born into a family, and His life and teachings deeply impact our own familial bonds. Today, we draw inspiration from the Holy Family's response to life's challenges as we look forward to the New Year with hope and renewal. These events resonate deeply as they echo the difficulties many families face today - misunderstandings, threats to family security, losses, and grief. As we stand at the threshold of a New Yea...

The dawning of a Great light... As we celebrate the Christmas season, we are invited to reflect on the profound impact of Christ's coming into a world shrouded in darkness. His birth, as foretold in Isaiah 9:2-7, is the dawning of a great light in the midst of darkness, symbolizing hope, joy, and the promise of salvation. Christ’s coming, as described in the Gospels, particularly in Luke 2:1-14, 15-20, marks the fulfillment of God's plan to bring His presence into the very heart of our human experiences. The humility of Jesus' birth in a manger in Bethlehem is a profound statement of God's love and closeness to humanity. This divine closeness brings light to the darkness of our world, offering hope and new life where there was despair and death. Paul, in his letter to Titus (2:11-14), highlights the transformative power of Christ's coming. The grace of God that brings salvation teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled...
